Context & Description:

Ascenders is a Location-Based VR experience that blends contemplative narration with traditional cooperative escape games. I worked on the project during pre-production and into early production.

My tasks:

  • Designed gameplay mechanics in alignment with the director’s vision and narrative structure
  • Designed levels, from 2D schematics to 3D block-outs in Unreal Engine 4.
  • Prototyped mechanics using Unreal’s Blueprint system
  • Wrote and maintained the Game Design Document (GDD)
  • Reviewed and suggested revisions to the scenario from a game design perspective

Retrospective Highlights:

  • Gained valuable experience with LBVR and artistically driven projects
  • Strengthening my skills in Unreal Engine and Blender
  • Learned how to align game design with a strong narrative vision
