Context & Description:
Ascenders is a Location-Based VR experience that blends contemplative narration with traditional cooperative escape games. I worked on the project during pre-production and into early production.
My tasks:
- Designed gameplay mechanics in alignment with the director’s vision and narrative structure
- Designed levels, from 2D schematics to 3D block-outs in Unreal Engine 4.
- Prototyped mechanics using Unreal’s Blueprint system
- Wrote and maintained the Game Design Document (GDD)
- Reviewed and suggested revisions to the scenario from a game design perspective
Retrospective Highlights:
- Gained valuable experience with LBVR and artistically driven projects
- Strengthening my skills in Unreal Engine and Blender
- Learned how to align game design with a strong narrative vision
